A Table In The Wilderness
A Banquet Before My Enemies
John RothMarch 8, 202637:11
Psalm 23: 1 - 6Sheep-like vulnerability shows that people need a shepherd who is present and provides for every lack, guiding through wilderness danger into abundance. God prepares a lavish table in the midst of enemies, anoints and fills the cup so provision is personal, not statistical. The biblical storyline is Exodus-shaped, so personal rescue links to God’s faithful acts for his people across history. Jesus embodies the royal host who welcomes the lost, wins critics by inviting them in, and accomplishes ultimate deliverance through suffering so our wilderness becomes communion. Because God is with us, we shall not want, we will not fear, and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
