Emotional Jesus
Delight
John RothNovember 24, 202437:57
Luke 18: 35 - 43Contempt ruins relationships and nations by treating people as less than human and inviting destruction rather than healing. Jesus delights in the despised and the oppressor alike, seeks out the lost, interrupts crowds that dismiss others, and offers healing, restoration, and belonging. Delight means wanting and enjoying someone, not merely tolerating them, and it calls Christians to listen, befriend, and reconcile rather than mock or humiliate. True transformation comes when we refuse contempt, recognize the image of God in every person, and extend patient love that softens hearts and rebuilds communities.
