Loneliness

Ephesians 2:19

Being cut off from others wounds the soul and was never part of the way humans are made, since we are created for deep connection with God and one another. Jesus fully experiences misunderstanding, rejection, and abandonment so he can sympathize with our pain and enter our loneliness. Loneliness is not sin, but it breeds shame and isolation unless met by honest community, compassion, and the presence of Christ. Christian fellowship mitigates present loneliness and points to a future where every tear is wiped away and alienation is finally destroyed, making believers citizens and members of God’s household.
