Sabbath
Rest is woven into creation as a gift for human flourishing and communion with God, not a burden to earn favor. God establishes a weekly rhythm so people are renewed, healed, and freed from the compulsion to prove themselves. Legalistic religion twists that rhythm into rule-keeping that obscures mercy and often harms others. Jesus reclaims Sabbath as restorative and proclaims himself Lord of that rest, offering both the practical pause each week and the deeper, finished rest from striving that comes through trusting his completed work.
