Misconceptions Of Sin
Powerful forces of sin shape hearts more than isolated wrong acts, and denial or moralizing never breaks their hold. Confession opens the door to forgiveness and real cleansing, and grace, not shame or rule-keeping, loosens sin’s grip. The law exposes our self-centeredness so the gospel may rescue us, and the church exists as a safe place to bring shame and find restoration rather than condemnation. All people share a fallen tendency that makes self-righteousness dangerous, and Christ’s death and resurrection overcome sin and restore us to genuine humility, love, and transformed fruit of the Spirit.
