The Blessed Life
Blessed Are The Poor
John RothAugust 2, 202034:18
Matthew 5: 3Entrance into the kingdom begins with acknowledging spiritual bankruptcy and daily dependence rather than achieving moral perfection. The beatitudes describe an existing state of blessedness for those who live needy before God, not a checklist to earn favor. Jesus embodies meekness, poverty of spirit, and sacrificial vulnerability so that the king brings the kingdom to the humble. True discipleship overturns worldly accumulation by making interdependence, mercy, and self‑giving the marks of flourishing, and grace sustains believers in need so they can give and receive within a community shaped by Christ’s upside‑down reign.
