The Born Identity
Identity rooted in sonship frees us from defining ourselves by work, possessions, or others’ opinions and replaces slavery to law with adopted status as God’s children. Jesus willingly lived under the law to redeem those bound by it, and adoption gives believers access to the Father, counsel, authority, inheritance, purpose, and daily freedom from shame. Christians often forget this reality and live as if still enslaved, so growing into the born-again identity requires intentional practices and community to remember and live out the gospel’s promises.
