Unnecessary Shame
John RothMay 10, 202042:07
2 Timothy 1: 6 - 14Feeling exposed or disgraced drives us inward and convinces us we are fundamentally unworthy rather than simply mistaken. Shame attaches identity to others’ judgments, breeds timidity, and paralyzes us from using God‑given gifts. Guilt calls for repentance about specific wrongs, but shame accuses the whole person and must be named as a lie. God calls and gifts believers before time and the Spirit empowers us with power, love, and self‑control to risk obedience. Look to Jesus who endured and disarmed shame on the cross, claim your holy calling, fan your gifts into flame, and live freely as God’s beloved.
