My Big Fat Mouth
Criticizing
John RothMay 20, 201832:23
Galatians 5: 13 - 16Words have power to heal or to wound, and a critical spirit that targets character, assigns blame, or belittles destroys relationships and drives people away. Truth and love always belong together, and correction that aims for change speaks about behavior, offers solutions, extends grace, and comes from humility and hope. Unconditional love, forgiveness, and the gospel produce real change where mere fault-finding hardens hearts. Being a bearer of hope means expecting redemption, speaking life, and correcting with mercy so others are built up rather than consumed. Speak to restore, not to condemn, and let hope shape how criticism is given and received.
