Keep The Change
A New Self for a New Year
John RothJanuary 13, 201936:07
Ephesians 4: 17 - 24Decisive events unite believers with Christ so the old self is crucified and the new self is given, and this change is real, once-for-all, and lasting. Baptism marks that union, and every day Christians reckon with that reality by counting themselves dead to sin and alive to God. True change issues from being a new person, not merely altered behavior, so motives shift from fear and pride to grateful love, identity rests in Christ rather than performance, and moral judgment flows from Christ’s character. The Holy Spirit personally empowers ongoing transformation, making holiness a lived, dynamic reality.
