Forgiving
John RothMarch 17, 201935:11
Matthew 18: 21 - 35Presence of the holy exposes hidden sin and awakens shame, yet true forgiveness removes fear and shame and cleanses the person rather than merely condemning the behavior. Forgiveness often comes before perfect repentance and creates the openness in which real repentance and love grow. Grace welcomes messy people, forgives lavishly, and restores relationship by entrusting purpose and mission to the forgiven. Those who recognize how much they have been forgiven love and forgive others more readily, and a community marked by generous forgiveness becomes a visible sign of God’s restorative work in a divided world.
